The ever-changing levels of donor assistance mean that local NGOs and US Organizations<\/a>‘ field offices need skilled staff and robust systems to compete for these limited resources. Given the increased scrutiny of consulting and auditing divisions of accounting firms, having internal auditing departments becomes crucial. Unfortunately, most organizations do not possess the internal capacity to monitor their field offices or sub-grantees adequately.<\/p>\n Based on our experience, we have found that poor management systems often hinder the achievement of project objectives. By implementing management systems and providing cultural perspective training, we can enhance transparency and strengthen the field offices of local African NGOs and PVOs. This capacity-building initiative could be the catalyst to drive increased citizen participation and accelerate local development. While robust management systems may not always directly impact program results, their indirect influence is significant. A perfect example is when FRESH (formerly Sankofa & Associates) offered technical assistance to a women\u2019s organization focused on empowering women in conflict prevention, management, and resolution across the African continent. After improving the management system of this organization, it became eligible for USAID funds, equipping it better to prevent or mitigate the impacts of future manufactured crises.<\/p>\n FRESH was established to tackle the mentioned issues head-on.
